Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate high-speed gluing machines by feeding unglued cartons
  • Pack glued cartons into cases, which may involve bagging or placing in packing trays
  • Inspect cartons for quality and report any defects to the operator or supervisor
  • Complete necessary quality paperwork
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Continuous standing and walking
  • Frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds
  • Regularly pushing cases of cartons weighing up to 40 pounds
  • High level of manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination required
  • Repetitive hand, finger, and wrist movements
  • Good color vision to distinguish printed shades and colors

Work Environment:

The work environment includes:

  • Noise levels exceeding 85dB
  • Constant dust from the paper converting process
  • Proximity to machinery and forklifts
  • Shared workspace with other employees
  • Required safety gear including steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection
  • Possible exposure to temperature extremes

Qualifications:

  • Education: Grade 10 or equivalent; up to 3 months of related training or experience
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract four-digit numbers
  • Mechanical Skills: Basic understanding of machinery; ability to stop machines and clear jams
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding basic English; effective interaction with coworkers and management
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow established guidelines and make decisions regarding product quality
