Position Overview

As a key member of the Nursing Department at Western Piedmont Community College, the Nursing Education Facilitator plays a vital role in the orchestration, selection, organization, and assessment of educational experiences for students enrolled in the Practical Nursing program.

Core Responsibilities
The Facilitator is engaged in the design, execution, instruction, and appraisal of the Practical Nursing curriculum, contributing to various college-related initiatives. Reporting directly to the Nursing Department Head, the following duties are essential:

  • Collaborate effectively in team-based instruction within classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities for the Practical Nursing program.
  • Assist in the creation of program documentation and assessment tools.
  • Select and implement suitable theoretical and clinical learning experiences for students.
  • Maintain comprehensive student records and track progress towards clinical objectives.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of course content and structure.
  • Review and select educational materials and textbooks.
  • Work alongside the simulation coordinator to ensure laboratory supplies and resources are adequately maintained.
  • Oversee marketing, admissions, and registration processes for prospective and current students.
  • Provide academic advising to students regarding their educational progress.
  • Supervise students during clinical rotations.
  • Assess student performance in clinical settings.
  • Assist in the formulation of student clinical schedules.
  • Develop and communicate clinical assignments to students.
  • Facilitate student engagement and participation in pre- and post-clinical discussions.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clinical partners and college faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and goals of the college and nursing program.
  • Promote a dedication to high-quality nursing education and patient care.
  • Pursue ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Stay informed on current nursing literature and evidence-based practices.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities in collaborative activities.
  • Plan and participate in nursing team meetings.
  • Document and distribute minutes from Practical Nursing faculty meetings.
  • Engage in the development, execution, evaluation, and revision of the Practical Nursing program.
  • Participate in college committees as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation Range
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, structured within a 9-month contract.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with active enrollment in a Master's in Nursing program.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Membership in one or more professional nursing organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing Education from an accredited institution.
  • Prior teaching experience in a nursing program.

Additional Requirements

  • Must obtain a Master's degree within five years of employment.
  • Must complete education in adult learning principles as mandated by the NCBON within the first three years of employment.
