Position Summary:

The Industrial Maintenance Technician Trainee role involves assisting in various tasks related to the installation, upkeep, repair, disassembly, and reassembly of machinery within an industrial environment.


Key Duties:
  • Collaborate with experienced mechanics to optimize equipment and system performance.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, including pumps and motors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and arc flash procedures.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure operational efficiency of systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with building systems and machinery.
  • Support the installation of new machinery and systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Engage in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Help manage inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Perform general cleanup and maintenance of facilities as required.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn from seasoned professionals.
  • Availability to work a regular schedule, including potential weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of small hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow established procedures for task completion.
  • Capability to work 10-hour shifts, with the possibility of extending to 16 hours based on operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or certification in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance or a similar area.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes.
  • One year or more of experience in a papermill environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead tasks.
  • Capable of bending, squatting, and working on the floor.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools for prolonged durations.
