Virginia Oncology Associates, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in Suffolk. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, including exams and procedures.
- Promote efficient patient flow and patient care, ensuring exams and procedures are conducted in a timely manner.
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as necessary.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.
- Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions, as well as schedule follow-up appointments for test results.
- Arrange for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
- Perform other administrative duties as requested by supervisors or physicians.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a multi-physician practice, preferably.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
- Ability to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the profession and industry.
- CMA certification strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel between sites as needed.
