Job Summary

The Principal Engineer will play a key role in advancing technology applications within CF Industries' facilities, promoting the application of best practices in engineering and construction work for strategic projects across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply technical expertise in hydrogen and ammonia production technology and operations, as well as rapidly evolving carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) technologies to support the integration of low-carbon technologies into CF Industries' operations.
  • Lead technical evaluations of emerging technologies related to hydrogen, ammonia, decarbonization, and clean energy, developing company expertise for their incorporation into CF Industries' clean energy strategy.
  • Define and develop objectives and priorities of complex programs/projects, working across multiple sites to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Support sites in FEED, detail engineering, permitting, and construction planning to contribute to the evolution of CF's strategic initiatives, recommending and evaluating complex/new designs and specifications.
  • Advise, mentor, and train less experienced colleagues across the network through influence and persuasion.
  • Promote the inclusion of company best practices across teams and locations in site engineering scope development, cost estimating, execution planning, and metrics/controls to ensure compliance.
  • Recognize talented resources that can add value to strategic initiatives, developing a resource sharing strategy from site to site (CF employees or contract professionals).
  • Continually identify ways to add value to CF Industries through the Corporate Engineering group within its resources capabilities.
Requirements
  • An engineering degree in a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of Project Management or Process Engineering experience.
  • Ability to independently identify and develop innovative ideas to solve problems.
  • Technical capabilities will include an expert level of knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and theories used in the engineering specialty area, and the ability to use it to contribute significantly towards finding solutions of applied problems.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate plans and criteria for approving complex or novel designs and program/project specifications of other engineers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, create new opportunities, recommend, and evaluate complex/new designs and specifications.
  • Proven ability to effectively establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Willing and able to travel as required to destinations globally.
  • Capability of acquiring, maintaining, and possessing a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) as well as a Passport.
