Job Description

Old South Carriage Company is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Farm Crew. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to showcase Charleston's hospitality by providing exceptional care for our equine staff members.

We are a premier touring company with a focus on delivering the best equine experience in town. Our Farm Crew work primarily on our 65-acre farm on Johns Island and spend the other part of the week downtown in our two stables. Schedules are posted 1-2 weeks in advance, and each day has an AM or PM shift, with staff assigned 5 shifts per week for full-time work.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Transportation: Safely transport horses between Johns Island and Downtown.
  • Barn Maintenance: Maintain and manage three barns, including two on Johns Island and one in Downtown Charleston.
  • Horse Grooming and Care: Groom horses and clean stalls to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
  • Tack and Hitching: Tack and hitch draft horses to carriages, ensuring safe and efficient transportation.
  • Health and Wellness: Ensure the health of our herd and manage the daily operations of the horses, including administering meds and light health care.
  • Facilities and Projects: Perform facilities care and small projects as needed.

Requirements
  • Teamwork and Initiative: Must be a team-oriented individual who can also take initiative individually.
  • Horse Experience: Be comfortable around horses, specifically draft horses.
  • Availability: Open availability weekly, including 7 days a week and 6am-10pm.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a polite and professional attitude at all times.
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Pre-Employment Screening: Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
