Job Summary:

The American Federation of Musicians and Employers Pension Fund is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting data for the Fund.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process pension checks, death stops, and reclaims, as well as reissuing requests.
  • Prepare and execute monthly pension payments to over 50,000 Fund pensioners.
  • Maintain up-to-date notes on all relevant pension spreadsheets and related profiles in MAX.
  • Reconcile the Pension monthly benefits and contributions spreadsheet.
  • Review monthly lump sum pension payments to ensure accuracy prior to Bank processing.
  • Process the Locals annual agreement for remitting pension payments to the Fund.
  • Support annual audit and tax filings.
  • Manage and process remote bank deposits for checks received daily.
  • Serve as backup to Assistant Accounting Manager regarding AP/AR processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial analysis experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.).
  • Knowledge and ability to use Business Central or similar accounting ERP software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and conceptual skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience developing and streamlining processes.
  • Knowledge of defined benefit pension plans.
  • Non-profit accounting principles.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a solutions-oriented approach to your work.

Compensation:

The pay range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 per year.
