Your Role at SAM:


Collaborate with team members to assess construction techniques and workmanship, ensuring that contractors execute improvements in alignment with established plans and specifications.

Typically report to a senior inspector and a licensed professional engineer who holds full authority for the final approval of all engineering-related tasks.

Under the guidance of the Project Manager, conduct field inspections and oversee construction activities.


Maintain daily logs of inspection activities along with detailed records of project advancements.


Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.


Capable of reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and relevant standards.


Review contract documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to project specifications, based on experience.


Assist in coordinating material sampling and testing, ensuring adequate testing has been conducted.


Verify the accuracy of payment requests and invoices for completed work.


Experienced in Department of Transportation (DOT) construction inspection and procedures.


Able to coordinate effectively with contractor personnel and communicate with all stakeholders.


Perform standard mathematical calculations.


Willing to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules as necessary to meet project demands.

Open to assignments requiring extended travel for inspection tasks, attendance at preconstruction meetings, project progress meetings, etc.

Execute additional tasks as assigned to support the Company's strategic objectives.



Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) for transportation projects as outlined. Direct field experience as a contractor or materials-testing technician may substitute for Construction Inspection experience on a case-by-case basis.

Highly motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Comprehensive knowledge of DOT specifications and standards, with a willingness to pursue relevant knowledge outside of work.

Familiarity with SiteManager software is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience with Primavera and other scheduling software is preferred but not mandatory.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to complete inspector certification courses, including DOT classes in hot-mix asphalt and ACI concrete sampling and testing.

Field testing certifications through TxAPA and/or ACI are preferred but not required.
