Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Internal Medicine physician to serve as the Associate Program Director and Faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Trinity Health. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled physician to assist in leading the Internal Medicine Residency program and contribute to the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Associate Program Director:
    • Assist the Program Director in enhancing research and scholarly activities in the program.
    • Contribute to the general administration of the program, including recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation, and advancement of residents.
    • Develop and implement annual program improvement goals and objectives related to resident and faculty scholarly activity.
    • Work with residents and faculty to document scholarly activities and achieve annual goals.
    • Meet all requirements for faculty position.
    • Assist in creating a research environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
    • Help disseminate scholarly learning across different platforms.
    • Demonstrate and model accomplishments in research, patient care, educational innovation, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
    • Contribute to the creation of evaluation tools, didactic educational activities, and electronic educational materials.
    • Take the lead on contributing to professional committees, educational organizations, or editorial boards.
  • Faculty Physician Internal Medicine Residency Program:
    • Assist in the development and improvement of the written curriculum for internal medicine.
    • Provide instruction and supervision of assigned residents on inpatient, consultation, clinic, and office teaching services.
    • Evaluate and document the educational and clinical performance of residents in collaboration with other faculty and the Program Director.
    • Provide clinical services to patients on the internal medicine teaching services, clinics, and other clinical settings.
    • Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the Program Director.
    • Participate in the evaluation and improvement of the Internal Medicine Program.
    • Actively participate on Clinical Competency Committee.
    • Participate in faculty development activities, including continuing medical education.
    • Maintain a learning environment characterized by inquiry and scholarship.
    • Accomplish one poster/publication and one CME conference annually.
    • Cooperate with the Program Director in maintaining compliance with policies and procedures governing resident education.
    • Advise the Program Director and DIO on resource needs of the program.
Requirements
  • Associate Program Directors must have served on core faculty for at least two years and have demonstrated exceptional administrative and educational skill and expertise.
  • Faculty physicians must possess the requisite specialty expertise and competence in clinical care and teaching abilities, as well as documented educational and administrative abilities and experience in their field.
  • Faculty physicians must be certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, or possess qualifications judged to be acceptable by the Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee.
  • Faculty physicians must be appointed in good standing to the medical staff of Trinity Health and must have an unrestricted license to practice medicine issued by the State of Michigan.
