Job ResponsibilitiesOptical Engineers play a pivotal role in KLA's technology landscape. While we currently do not have an open position, we are continuously building our Optical Engineering talent community and are eager to learn about your expertise.
Responsibilities include:1. Designing and specifying optical components and modules, including lasers, LEDs, optical filters, cameras, sensors, and lens assemblies.
2. Creating specification documents and collaborating with vendors to ensure manufacturability and process optimization.
3. Calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting prototype optical systems.
4. Assembling and aligning optical components on tabletop setups.
5. Developing and documenting operational methods and assembly procedures in partnership with vendors.
6. Implementing optical alignment and metrology processes to achieve desired optical performance.
7. Integrating prototype systems into semiconductor tools for functional testing and validation.
8. Establishing test methods and procedures to mitigate technical risks and resolve root causes.
9. Reporting and presenting findings to inform design decisions.
10. Evaluating design alternatives with a focus on timelines, tolerances, manufacturability, and performance metrics.
11. Adhering to a structured design process that includes reviews, vendor procurement, first-article inspections, testing, prototype integration, and design release.
Required Skills:
1. Proficiency in following technical documentation, processes, and protocols.
2. Strong understanding of optical subsystems and their interactions with mechanical, electrical, control, environmental, and software systems.
3. Capability to perform detailed system troubleshooting using diagnostics and operational theories.
4. Experience in creating and updating technical and process-related documentation.
5. Ability to assist in technical discussions and support escalated issues from the field and customers.
6. Independent problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset.
Qualifications:
1. Solid understanding of optics theory, particularly in illumination, imaging, and microscopy.
2. Experience with optical design software such as CodeV, Zemax, or Lighttools.
3. Hands-on experience with optical assembly and complex optomechanical alignment.
4. Proficiency in measuring, troubleshooting, and communicating technical data.
5. Willingness to travel to manufacturing and customer sites as part of product development.
6. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting workloads and deadlines.
7. Experience in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural global organization is advantageous.
8. Degrees in optical engineering are preferred, with additional experience in spectroscopy, coatings, and optomechanics considered a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic) or 0 years of work experience, Master's Level Degree or 2 years of work experience, Bachelor's Level Degree or 3 years of work experience.
