This role is crucial in our assembly estimating department, where the selected individual will contribute significantly to crafting proposals and cost estimates for various North American projects and new Request for Quotation (RFQ) opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation, adeptness in mechanical and control schematics, and a strong capability in cost estimation for custom-engineered assembly solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and address new project RFQs, customer queries, and engineering modifications.
- Assemble new program workflows, layouts, and project proposals for client submission.
- Keep an organized and updated list of Assembly opportunities for the team.
- Engage in RFQ line-up meetings with clients and conduct technical reviews following quotation submissions.
- Interpret, analyze, and provide quotes based on provided customer specifications.
- Manage multiple projects, meetings, and daily tasks efficiently.
- Collaborate with internal project teams on commercial requirements or support once projects commence.
- Draft responses to RFQs and Requests for Information (RFIs) in the form of Proposal Letters and Quotations, ensuring optimal technical and commercial solutions are applied.
- Participate in sales and marketing meetings, along with internal training sessions as necessary.
- Execute other related tasks as directed by the Director of Business Development, Assembly Division.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years in technical, proposal, and estimating roles, ideally with an engineering background.
- Expertise in interpreting mechanical and control schematics.
- Proficient in software applications such as Inventor and/or AutoCAD.
- Experience in detailed cost estimation for custom-engineered systems, particularly in assembly systems.
- Understanding of assembly processing capabilities, including layout design and cycle time analysis.
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to create tooling concepts and layout drawings using Inventor or AutoCAD.
- Exceptional presentation skills for developing technical proposals.
- A strong team player capable of working collaboratively in an office environment.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
