The Non CDL Permit Trainee position at US Foods, Inc. is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are eager to learn and grow with the company.


We offer a comprehensive training program that aims to prepare trainees to obtain a CDL Class A license. This program combines classroom learning with hands-on driving instruction, ensuring that our trainees are well-equipped to succeed in their roles.


As a Non CDL Permit Trainee, you will be working closely with experienced drivers on the road, assisting them with route completion and learning all aspects of the job. You will also have the opportunity to participate in classroom exercises and receive feedback from instructors and driver/coaches.


To be eligible for this position, candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to use or learn to use all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), and tools used to perform the job. They must also be able to work in extreme weather conditions and adhere to all safety practices and company policies.


The estimated salary for this role is $22/hour, depending on relevant experience and/or education. Compensation may also include overtime pay.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Maintaining 100% attendance in all elements of the training program.
  • Achieving satisfactory feedback from instructors and driver/coaches during the classroom, yard skills, and on-the-road driving portion of the training program.
  • Assisting designated US Foods drivers in route completion, learning all aspects of the job.
  • SUCCESSFULLY ENROLLING IN CDL SCHOOL AND OBTAINING A CDL PERMIT LICENSE WITHIN THE FIRST 45 DAYS OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM.
  • SUCCESSFULLY OBTAINING A CDL CLASS A LICENSE WITHIN THE 90 DAYS OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM.
  • Achieving defined performance expectations during the initial 90-day probationary period of program.
  • Attending all required company meetings and adhering to all safety practices and company policies.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Use or learn to use all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), and tools used to perform the job.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions, including applying tire chains if needed.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
  • Pass DOT physical and obtain a two-year DOT Medical Card upon receiving a conditional employment offer.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, having the following qualifications may be beneficial for this role:


  • Minimum one year of experience operating heavy motor vehicle equipment and/or one year of experience as a warehouse selector in a foodservice or comparable product environment preferred.
