Embalming and Funeral Director

Ofield Funeral Home in Fremont, MI is looking for a dedicated Embalmer and Funeral Director to join our team. This full-time position comes with a competitive salary of $82,000 per year, including benefits such as dental insurance, flexible schedule, health insurance, paid time off, relocation assistance, retirement plan, and vision insurance.
About the Role:
- Meet with families to discuss funeral plans, including burial or cremation options, locations, and cultural preferences
- Assist families in choosing caskets, urns, and other funeral items
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the funeral service, including transporting the deceased, scheduling services, and overseeing the funeral procession
- Prepare and embalm the deceased, ensuring proper sanitation, restoration, and preservation
- Apply makeup and provide grooming services to enhance the deceased's appearance for visitations and funerals
- Help prepare and file necessary documents, such as death certificates and permits
- Provide emotional support and guidance to grieving families during the funeral process
- Collaborate with cemetery staff and clergy to ensure a smooth and respectful burial or cremation
- Manage funeral home operations, including maintenance, inventory management, and compliance with health and safety regulations
- Valid Funeral Director and Embalmer license in Michigan or ability to obtain within a short timeframe
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain professionalism in emotionally charged situations
- Compassionate nature and ability to provide comfort to grieving families
- Knowledge of funeral service practices, customs, and regulations
- Proficient in embalming techniques and cosmetic application
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
