Position Overview: L.L.Bean is seeking a Retail Store Manager to oversee our operations in a prominent retail location.

This pivotal position is accountable for driving business performance, nurturing talent, and delivering the exceptional L.L.Bean customer experience associated with the outdoor lifestyle. The Store Manager will communicate and implement Retail strategic initiatives, manage profit and loss for the designated store, and uphold the company's core values of Outdoor Heritage, Integrity, Service, Respect, Perseverance, and Safe and Healthy Living.

  • Store Sales Volume: $4-6 Million

Key Responsibilities:

1. Drive Business Performance:

  • Establish clear direction and communicate consistent priorities.
  • Inspire and guide teams to achieve objectives.
  • Allocate resources effectively (payroll, expenses, personnel) to meet targets.
  • Create a disciplined culture focused on excellence in execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures, including Human Resource Management, Loss Prevention, and Safety.
  • Protect assets and manage supply control to contribute to profit and loss management.
  • Take personal accountability for individual and team outcomes.

2. Develop Talent:

  • Set high standards and ensure accountability.
  • Develop the team to provide legendary customer service aligned with L.L.Bean's principles.
  • Foster a strong connection between the team and the brand.
  • Assess talent objectively and accurately.
  • Provide regular and comprehensive performance feedback.
  • Recognize and celebrate the achievements of others.
  • Address underperformance promptly and collaboratively.
  • Identify high-potential employees and offer challenging assignments for development.

3. Deliver Exceptional Customer Experience:

  • Enhance GUIDE / Manager On Duty behaviors.
  • Hold self and others accountable to L.L.Bean's principles.
  • Promote the Learn, Try, Buy, and Enjoy concept through engaging outdoor activities.
  • Utilize customer feedback to drive improvements in the customer experience.
  • Identify and implement enhancements in visual presentation to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure adherence to visual presentation standards.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 2-Year Associates Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a retail management role in a relevant environment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a store manager in a high-traffic, high-volume retail environment.
  • Demonstrated strategic and innovative leadership capabilities.
  • Proven leadership experience within the apparel retail sector is essential.
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of achieving sales and service goals.
  • Proven ability to develop and motivate team members.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively to achieve goals.
  • Ability to balance growth with tradition.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between stores as needed.
