Facility Maintenance Specialist

Cherokee Federal is seeking a skilled Facility Repairman to support disaster response operations and manage temporary facility support services. Key Responsibilities- Inspect and diagnose equipment, machinery, or systems to identify faults or malfunctions
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using appropriate tools and techniques
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns or malfunctions of temporary facility related equipment
- Test and evaluate equipment functionality after repairs or maintenance
- Knowledge of federal ADA requirements
- Ability to follow manuals, schematics, or technical specifications to ensure proper repair procedures
- Providing clear explanations and guidance regarding repair processes, costs, and schedules
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, including parts used and work performed
- Ability to adhere to safety guidelines, regulations, and company policies while performing repairs
- Maintains knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to repair and maintenance
- A bachelor's degree specialized in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing or related fields with no less than 5 years of professional experience providing QA/QC, maintenance and repairs in a government environment preferably with FEMA or HHS
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are not required but are preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means
- Ability to remain calm in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies
- Proven experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems (MEP)
- Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repairs in various settings
The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory. Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Maintenance Technician, Facility Worker, or Maintenance Specialist.
