CNC Machinist Job Description

The CNC Machinist plays a critical role in the success of Composite Energy Technologies Inc, working closely with the CNC department to ensure the efficient operation of various CNC machines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Setup, operate, and maintain CNC machines with minimal assistance
  • Operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously
  • Read and adhere to written processes and procedures
  • Study daily work instructions, sketches, and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances accurately
  • Inspect products using visual and hand inspection equipment
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Adhere to and implement quality management systems in accordance with ISO standards
Work Environment:

This position requires time spent on the shop floor, exposing the CNC Machinist to shop elements including noise, moving parts, dust, and fumes.

The role may also require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands:

The CNC Machinist must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, climb on and around large structures, lift heavy materials, and sit or stand for extended periods.

Requirements:
  • 6+ years of machine shop experience, including manual mills and lathes, and CNC machines
  • Vocational trades school, high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, solid computer skills, and ability to read, write, and speak English
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience in composite production and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist
  • Experience in mechanical assembly and strong analytical, communication, and computer skills
