Seasonal Role without Benefits
This position involves executing lifesaving techniques, delivering swimming instruction to both children and adults, and conducting routine upkeep of pool facilities. The role requires constant monitoring of activities within the aquatic environment and necessitates a flexible schedule to accommodate various pool locations.
Key Responsibilities and Competencies
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job description aims to provide a representative overview of the primary tasks and responsibilities undertaken by employees in this role. Employees may be asked to perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly outlined here.
- Capable of executing lifesaving techniques, maintaining pool facilities, managing records, ensuring sanitation, and providing instruction.
- Responsible for performing essential swimming pool tasks, including:
1. Upkeep of swimming pool facilities
2. Daily sanitation
3. Vacuuming
4. Filtration
5. Maintenance of pool grounds, both indoor and outdoor
6. Additional duties as assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor - Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members.
- Demonstrates responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
- Willingness to participate in training sessions and workshops.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Facilitates good communication among staff, visitors, and other stakeholders.
- Adheres to telephone etiquette in all communications.
- Performs other assigned duties as necessary.
- Proficient in lifesaving techniques, pool maintenance, recordkeeping, sanitation, and instruction.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Able to follow and provide directions from supervisors.
- Ability to lead and ensure compliance among assigned staff.
- Capable of performing both strenuous and routine tasks.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and effectively address public concerns.
- Projects a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of the City of Laredo.
- Maintains good health and physical condition to fulfill job duties.
Physical Effort Requirements may include:
- Office or similar indoor settings, generally free from unpleasant conditions.
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant conditions and/or hazards, including outdoor work.
- Frequent exposure to challenging environmental conditions; most work performed outdoors or with associated risks.
- Ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
