As an integral member of our healthcare team, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will engage in a multitude of essential functions and technical procedures crucial for patient care, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. This role also emphasizes participation in performance enhancement, research initiatives, and educational endeavors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial patient histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
- Develop, document, and communicate individualized care plans, ensuring thorough screening and preparation of patients.
- Execute daily patient rounds to monitor progress and address concerns.
- Write and manage orders for medications, laboratory tests, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Analyze laboratory results and diagnostic test outcomes.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to guarantee the highest quality of patient care.
- Upon patient discharge, prepare discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals, ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
- Educate patients on necessary post-discharge care instructions.
- Undertake additional related duties as necessary, recognizing that all responsibilities listed are essential functions of the role under applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required; must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State is mandatory.
- Current NCCPA Certification is required.
- BLS certification is essential.
OR
- Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program with National Board Certification in the relevant specialty area.
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Professional Nurse in New York State is required.
- Must have a collaborative practice agreement or attestation as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015.
- BLS certification is essential.
