Production Material Handler Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Material Handler to join our team at Comfort Systems USA Southwest. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement and organization of materials within the shop and production areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport materials into the shop and distribute them to designated production areas.
  • Facilitate the movement of materials from Fitters to Welders as required.
  • Operate machinery (Forklift) to load materials onto saws, plasma pipe cutters, and groover machines.
  • Relocate completed materials to the yard.
  • Band, palletize, package, and label finished products.
  • Accurately track time by clocking into the appropriate job numbers.
  • Dismantle and remove boxes, pallets, and crates from production areas.
  • Collaborate closely with production supervisors to stay informed about daily production schedules.
  • Organize and segregate materials per job, preparing them for production.
  • Bring in materials as needed/requested, ensuring only the necessary amount is brought in for same-day or next-day production.
  • Maintain a clutter-free shop and yard environment.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards are met throughout the production process.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift certification: 5 years + experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating material handling equipment.
  • Physical stamina to meet the demands of the job.
