Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Mechanical Design Engineer Manager will be responsible for managing and providing technical leadership necessary to achieve long-range automation goals throughout the organization. This role will oversee the development and maintenance of a team of engineers and technicians needed in the development of in-house automation equipment and fixturing.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a team of engineers and technicians needed in the development of in-house automation equipment and fixturing.
Responsible for return on investments relating to automated equipment and processes.
Manages the capital budgets by proposing and justifying equipment costs.
Interact with plant-level Manufacturing Engineering departments to determine needs and develop equipment.
Develop and oversee prototype automation equipment for assembly processes.
Vet ideas, lead, and participate in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
Determine equipment requirements, design specs, and component selection.
Implement new and revised technologies to improve quality and productivity.
Types of projects include equipment replacement/upgrade, new application of technologies, and process and equipment development.
Solicits and negotiates bids from outside contractors and vendors.
Supervises the completion of projects by outside contractors.
Ensures compliance with all mandated regulations, as well as GDT rules and regulations.
Reviews proposed disciplinary actions. Ensures completeness, fairness, consistency, and overall company interest.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering with 5-10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of experience and/or education is required for this position.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
Technical knowledge in mechanical design.
Technical knowledge in machine function, PLC, servo drives, and electronic systems.
Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical.
Mentor and develop entry-level engineers.
Remote troubleshooting.
Basic knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes.
Computer skills including MS Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and organization skills.
Understanding of compliance regulations and codes.
