Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Culinary Leader to oversee the kitchen and train staff at the Tohono O'odham Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals while maintaining cleanliness of food preparation areas, kitchen, utensils, and equipment.

About the Role

This position involves supervising and overseeing the kitchen, training staff, and ensuring that all food is prepared safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and train cooks, prepare, cook, and serve meals, and clean the kitchen and dining area.
  • Plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks according to established policies, procedures, and nutritional guidelines.
  • Prepare and adhere to weekly menus, including documenting any substitutions to the menus.
  • Store, label, and date food properly.
  • Submit monthly food reports, daily meal counts, and food service reports on a timely basis.
  • Order food and foodservice-related items to ensure that adequate supplies are available at all times.
  • Ensure safety guidelines and other applicable procedures are applied in the food preparation and dining areas.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three years' experience in food preparation.
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
  • Certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid within six months of hire.
  • A Food Handler's card obtained within six months after hire.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
