Job Summary

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week located at a hospital within the Northwestern Memorial Healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and interact with patients of the radiology department.
  • Verify patient identity using two patient identifiers.
  • Transport patients from in-patient units and the emergency department to and from the department.
  • Greet all patients, families, and visitors in the radiology procedure area.
  • Maintain communication between patients and the radiology department staff.
  • Prepare patients for exams and escort them to the proper exam room.
  • Position and immobilize patients on examining tables.
  • Assist radiologists and technologists in acquiring quality exams.
  • Assist with minor procedures, including disconnecting IV tubing used for contrast injection.
  • Assist radiologists with interventional procedures.
  • Assist with "wet readings" with the radiologist.
  • Compile all radiology exams and prepare them for reading by the radiologist.
  • Attend to the care of documents relating to patients.
  • Perform various related tasks to support the effective operations of the radiology department.
  • Prepare exam rooms, stock and clean rooms after each exam.
  • Stock supplies and linens.
  • Maintain Diagnostic Imaging changing areas.
  • Process requests from medical staff and internal departments for radiology films.
  • Ensure exams have been entered correctly and are tracked in the computer.
  • Responsible for ensuring JCAHO & Safety standards are met.
  • Responsible for following all recommended Infection Control procedures.
