Key Responsibilities

The Yard Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing all personnel in the yard involved in the logistics of shipping, receiving, and product handling. This role includes overseeing loading and unloading operations, ensuring compliance with receiving protocols, maintaining inventory accuracy, and fostering a safe working environment. The Yard Operations Supervisor collaborates closely with the Yard or Plant Manager and must be prepared to work flexible hours, including weekends.

The primary duties encompass:

  • Ensuring adherence to PPE regulations and promoting a safe workplace
  • Facilitating effective communication within the department and conducting meetings
  • Reporting hazardous conditions to the Plant Manager
  • Conducting inventory cycle counts and maintaining yard vehicles
  • Coordinating DOT stock lots and ensuring organized yard operations
  • Inspecting finished products for quality assurance
  • Verifying customer orders and liaising with the Freight Manager
  • Overseeing departmental training initiatives and product transitions
  • Optimizing labor efficiency and minimizing loading discrepancies
  • Embodying and promoting ADS CORE VALUES

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong leadership and professionalism
  • Knowledge of inventory management and effective time utilization
  • Excellent communication and training abilities
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with ADS product lines
  • Experience in operating forklifts and OTR vehicles
  • Expertise in freight and inventory management
  • Understanding of local shipping regulations and mathematical proficiency

Educational Background

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification

Preferred Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a yard loader role at ADS
  • Previous supervisory experience

Physical Demands

  • Capability to lift up to 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
  • Ability to remain mobile and stand for 8 continuous hours
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks in varying temperature conditions
  • Proficiency in using hands, arms, and legs to manage finished goods
  • Full range of motion including twisting, bending, and reaching
