Child Care Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Child Care Assistant to join our team at the USCG Academy Child Development Center. As a Child Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children, promoting their healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials to promote child development.
- Work with the director and teachers to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
- Establish a program environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
- Assist in providing and leading planned activities for program participants.
- Interact with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
- Interact professionally with staff members, parents, and the command.
- Maintain program participation data and complete required daily reports.
- Prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.
- Monitor children in the classroom, on the playground, in hallways, and restrooms, during study halls, during lunch, and in bus loading areas.
- Maintain control of, and account for, the whereabouts and safety of children at all times.
- Arrange for and serve appropriate snacks and meals where applicable.
- Perform routine care-giving tasks, helping with materials and activities, receiving children, interacting with children, and attending to the children's physical needs.
- Ensure care is provided in accordance with standards, assist in planning, and conducting activities, conduct health checks, ensure the safety and well-being of children, complete reports, and interact with parents.
- High school diploma or GED certificate and must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
- Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with children, youth, and coworkers.
- Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry 45+ pounds, walk, bend, and stoop, and stand on a routine basis to include sitting and rising from the floor.
- Prior experience working with children and/or youth.
