Position Overview

PeaceHealth is in search of Experienced Surgical Technologists to join our team in the Cardiac Operating Room. This role is available for various full-time equivalents (FTEs) during daytime hours.

Currently, we are focusing on hiring individuals with prior experience as Scrub Techs.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $30.09 – $45.17, which is determined by various factors including education, training, work experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Job Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team during operations by performing essential technical duties, primarily focused on preparing and maintaining a sterile environment for surgical procedures.

Key Duties Include:

  • Setting up and organizing sterile instruments for surgical procedures and providing necessary items to the surgical team.
  • Applying aseptic techniques to establish and maintain a sterile field, ensuring the surgical team adheres to sterile protocols.
  • Assisting in the preparation and transfer of patients.
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments, along with aiding in room turnover.
  • Accessing and utilizing computer systems for preference lists and digital imaging as required.
  • Engaging in safety initiatives and adhering to quality improvement programs.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist in a comprehensive operating room setting is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of age-specific principles and the ability to meet diverse patient needs.

Certifications:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technician in Washington is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Proficiency in executing detailed procedures with accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of operating room protocols and procedures.

Working Conditions

This role may involve:

  • Handling patients weighing up to 35 lbs without assistive devices.
  • Frequent physical activity including reaching, bending, and lifting.
  • Exposure to biohazards and other potentially hazardous materials.
