Infection Prevention Specialist

This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors at Mary Washington Healthcare. As an Infection Preventionist, you will work collaboratively with the Infection Prevention Manager to develop and implement strategies to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in infection prevention and control.
- Develop and implement educational programs to promote infection prevention practices among staff, patients, and visitors.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Conduct surveillance and assessment programs to identify and address infection prevention and control issues.
- Develop and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) with valid nursing license to practice in Virginia or BS in Medical Technology or BS in Microbiology.
- Minimum of 2 years direct clinical experience required in field of specialized education.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required with 3 years of employment.
- 1+ year Infection Prevention experience preferred.
- Demonstrated computer literacy to include Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards related to hospital Infection Prevention.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
