Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient financial obligations based on insurance benefits and inform patients of their responsibilities prior to scheduled procedures.
  • Ensure collection arrangements are established before elective services are provided.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for urgent admissions and procedures, ensuring clear communication of patient responsibilities.
  • Accurately gather and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Assist patients in arranging for their financial responsibilities by discharge for urgent services.
  • Screen and refer patients for potential assistance programs and charity options as per facility policies.
  • Collaborate with Case Management to secure necessary Medicaid/Medical treatment authorizations.
  • Maintain effective communication skills across verbal, written, and telephone interactions.
  • Exhibit proficiency in mathematical skills.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Familiarity with standard insurance companies and verification protocols.
  • Knowledge of authorization processes for various payers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Prior customer service experience is essential.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
