Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our team at OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide direct assistance to surgeons during operations, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct surgical first assisting to surgeons during operations, adhering to hospital policies and regulations.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care, including preparing patients for surgery and ensuring a smooth recovery process.
  • Collaborate with operating room staff, including registered nurses and anesthesiologists, to ensure a seamless surgical experience.
  • Support the anesthesia team with IVs and intubation as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate their fears and concerns before surgery.
  • Assist with patient positioning and surgical skin preparation.
  • Participate in the decontamination of the operating room, ensuring a clean and safe environment for future surgeries.
Requirements
  • Specialty training beyond high school required, Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related experience required, 2-4 years of experience preferred.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist license required.
  • Certified Surgical First Assist license required.
  • BLS certification required.
