Job Summary

J.J. McDonnell & Co is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Manager to oversee the completion of overnight driver check-in, provide detailed feedback, and conduct departmental root cause analysis. This position is accountable for ensuring the highest level of customer service and maintaining the highest Food Safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Driver Management: Communicate updated routing information, plan pickups, track truck mileage, and collect company property and customer paperwork.
  • Route Optimization: Review and address driver discrepancies in paperwork or routing, ensure proper procedures for returns, and confirm all driver paperwork is completed.
  • Operational Efficiency: Monitor driver time out on the road, trends, and patterns, and dispatch second run drivers with appropriate paperwork.
  • Customer Service: Provide timely and accurate communications to various departments and individuals, and ensure drivers complete their processes and assignments timely.
  • Logistics Coordination: Assist with organizing and loading freight during the preload process, and work with truck leasing provider on all truck repairs and required maintenance matters.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Must be able to multi-task, adapt to various work assignments, and follow all safety guidelines. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and company software functionality is required.
  • Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with minimum supervision, work well with people, be polite, and be teamwork oriented. Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to always remain organized.
