Job Description
This is a contract position that requires flexibility and adaptability. You will be responsible for delivering direct nursing care to patients under the guidance of RNs or physicians, encompassing tasks such as medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A valid and active LPN state license
- BLS certification
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Delivering direct nursing care to patients, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring
- Performing comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams, medical histories, and medication reviews
- Administering prescribed medications and treatments meticulously, ensuring accurate dosing and adherence to established protocols
- Evaluating, cleaning, dressing, and managing wounds, incisions, and injuries while actively monitoring for infection or complications
- Maintaining detailed and precise patient records, recording changes in their condition, administered treatments, and medication management
- Educating patients and their families on their medical conditions, prescribed medications, and self-care practices, with a focus on overall well-being
- Administering and closely monitoring intravenous (IV) medications and fluids, ensuring proper insertion and functioning of IV lines
- Caring for patients with urinary catheters, including insertion, routine maintenance, and diligent monitoring for complications
- Collecting patient samples, such as blood, urine, and sputum, for subsequent laboratory testing and analysis
- Collaborating closely with the healthcare team, including RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff, to ensure seamless patient care
- Addressing patient comfort and safety requirements, including positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management
- Responding swiftly and effectively during medical emergencies, adhering to established protocols and delivering basic life support as necessary
- Adhering rigorously to infection control procedures, encompassing proper hand hygiene and utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent infections from spreading
Location and Schedule
This contract position is located in Lexington, NC, and requires a flexible schedule, including working Sun-Sat, 7A-11:30P.
