About the Job

Dock workers play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of marine terminals. As a Dock Worker, you will be responsible for securing ships that come into port, preparing the gangway for loading and unloading cargo, and inspecting cargo for any defects or damage. You will also be required to maintain dock machinery and keep the dock areas clean and fully functioning.

Your Responsibilities
1. Securing ships that come into port including tying it to the moorings, deploying the oil boom, and hooking up the shore power.
2. Preparing the gangway for loading and unloading cargo.
3. Loading and unloading cargo to and from ships safely and efficiently.
4. Inspecting cargo for any defects or damage.
5. Maintaining dock machinery and keeping the dock areas clean and fully functioning.

Requirements
1. Physical strength, hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and the ability to concentrate on job responsibilities.
2. Good organizational and time management skills.
3. A high school diploma or equivalent.
4. The ability to understand and communicate information effectively.
5. English language proficiency is essential.

About You
To be successful as a Dock Worker, you should be able to work independently and as part of a team. You should also be able to follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations. Additionally, you should be able to carry or lift heavy objects and work in awkward positions. Overnight shifts may be required.
