Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Direct Support Professional to join our team in the Chicagoland South Suburban area. As a Caregiver for Individuals with Disabilities, you will play a vital role in evaluating and providing training to residents in daily living and social skills, helping them achieve and maintain their maximum level of functioning.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Responsibilities- Monitor and assist residents with personal grooming and appearance as necessary
- Transport and accompany residents to appointments and other services, including day program sites, as needed
- Supervise and assist residents in taking their medication in accordance with program guidelines
- Assist residents in preparation of daily schedules to include performance of household chores, social activities, and other meetings and appointments
- Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties such as, but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, monitor and assist residents with daily bedroom maintenance
- Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies following appropriate Health and Safety, Aggression Management, First Aid, CPR, and other procedures as necessary
- Plan menus and assist with meal preparation as required. Monitor and observe residents with special dietary needs.
- High School Diploma/GED (required proof)
- Be able to pass a background check
- Reliable transportation
- DSP experience preferred
- Drivers License required
- $21.21 hourly wage
