Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Assistant II to join our team at Novant Health. As a Medical Lab Assistant II, you will play a critical role in the pre-analytical processing of laboratory specimens, ensuring timely and accurate preparation for testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process laboratory specimens, including order processing, specimen verification, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
  • Validate and process specimens delivered to the laboratory, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy duties as required, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Make decisions and solve problems, recognizing when to involve leadership support.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software, as necessary.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • One year of relevant phlebotomy and/or specimen processing/laboratory experience, preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certification – ASCP, NHA, ASPT, AMT or a national accrediting agency approved by Laboratory Senior Leadership, required.
  • MLA certification from ASCP, CMLA certification from AMT, preferred.
