The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Pediatric Dialysis Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to pediatric patients undergoing dialysis treatment. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care and achieve optimal health outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hemodialysis treatments in accordance with approved facility policies and procedures.
  • Monitor patients during dialysis, assessing any emergent changes in their condition and communicating any issues to the physician and patient's family.
  • Follow CDC/CMS regulations with strict reinforcement of infection control.
  • Participate in patient care conferences, medical rounds, and chart reviews as assigned.
  • Assist in teaching and training new staff members as directed by the Nurse Manager.
  • Assist in the examination and evaluation of patient candidates to arrange appropriate PD treatment and other services.
  • Train patients and family members who have chosen peritoneal dialysis as their treatment modality.
  • Keep comprehensive records of the schedule and type of treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
  • Check in with PD patients at least monthly by phone or during clinic visits.
  • Obtain routine laboratory work, including routine adequacy testing.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence.
  • Desire to collaborate with care teams.
  • Ability to problem solve.
Education/Training
  • A degree from an accredited Registered Nursing Program is required.
  • 6 months dialysis experience required.
  • Experience in critical care nursing is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse in New York state.
  • Maintain certification in CPR.
