Job Summary

International Staff Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II/Sr. Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing mechanical engineering concepts and options that align with our company's vision for each project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the scope of assigned projects and utilize software programs to create mechanical engineering designs, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Determine cost-effective system layouts, quantities/sizes, and specifications, and verify code compliance of the system designs.
  • Prepare and layout BIM drawings and coordinate with all other disciplines at all phases of project production.
  • Perform construction administration tasks, including site observations, shop drawing review, and preparation of punch lists.
  • Define project scope and ensure it is accurately reflected in contract documents; proactively manage any possible scope of work variances to ensure client satisfaction and that projects stay on track.
  • Maintain excellent business relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, owners, and other design and construction professionals.
  • Support with mentoring more inexperienced mechanical designers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering design of commercial buildings, preferably in aviation, higher education, health care, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities.
  • Experience in plumbing/fire protection engineering design a plus.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • At least 2 years of experience coordinating with multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Experience with a variety of project deliverable methods, including design-build, design-bid-construct, fast-track, and other construction delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national codes, including other aspects of laws, regulations, and potential liabilities affecting the practice of engineering.
  • Revit MEP proficiency required, and familiarity with other engineering software programs.
  • Highly proficient technical/computer skills, including Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Work, Excel), internet, and web applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to clearly convey information, ideas, and concepts verbally, written, or in graphic form.
  • Ability to prepare original specifications for project systems and components, as well as complete project manuals with sub-consultant specifications when the company serves as the prime professional.
  • Must have the technical knowledge and hands-on experience to effectively evaluate various electrical engineering options for configuration of equipment and components.
  • Experienced with cost containment and reduction approaches.
