Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect patient data and obtain medical history
  • Perform treatment procedures and prepare instruments for sterilization
  • Maintain a sanitary work area and coordinate and schedule appointments
  • Verify medical coverage and perform basic cashiering duties
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School or GED Equivalent
  • A Medical Assistant accreditation program graduate or 2 years of Medical Assistant experience
  • Completion of the UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course within 90 days
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification
  • CMA or CCMA or NCMA or RMA certification
Working Conditions

This role requires:

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people
  • Sign Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE
  • May be required to travel to various work sites
  • Limited access to med room. Med Admin Policy, Att A
  • May be required or is required to rotate work shifts
