Telecom Trainee

Henkels & McCoy, a leading utility construction firm, is seeking a Telecom Trainee to join our team in Indiana. As a Telecom Trainee, you will assist in the installation and relocation of aerial and underground cable, ensuring it meets industry standards and is performed in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

• Install and relocate aerial and underground cable, including fiber optic, transportation, distribution, and drop cable.
• Assist with traffic control and perform broom/shovel work to assist the crew in underground utility construction.
• Assist crew members in trenching, digging, pulling, and removing material.
• Operate power equipment for demolition, concrete removal, grading, truck/dumpster loading, site clean-up, and other general tasks using company and/or rental equipment.
• Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
• Provide support for line crews during all phases of construction activity.

• 2+ years of experience or equivalent training as a lineman/trainee/apprentice and have the knowledge to detect power space violations and safety issues.
• Must be able to climb pole to cable height using pole climber gaffs.
• Current valid driver's license (preferably a CDL A) with a clean driving record is required.
• Must be able to lift, reach, dig, and carry heavy objects; with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and infrequent lifting of up to 100 pounds.
• This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces, and being overall physically demanding.
• Must be available for overtime weekday and/or weekend and be willing to travel as required.
