About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Auto Body Technician to join our team at Gerber Collision & Glass. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences through the meticulous assessment and repair of vehicles to their pre-accident condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Repair and Inspection - Ensure consistent execution of our WOW plan, plan repair work, and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Tool Utilization - Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair sections of a vehicle.
- Dent Repair and Realignment - Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage, mix and apply filler resins to repair dents, and realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Vehicle Disassembly and Reassembly - Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts, replace or repair glass and windshields as needed, and replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Welding and Painting - Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place, and prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent.
- Quality Control - Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines, ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience - Successful completion of technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Skills - Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision, ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop, thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies, and thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
