Casting Technician Job Description

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Casting Technician to join our team in a large manufacturing facility. As a Casting Technician, you will be responsible for forming cast and maintaining the quality of the product.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain casting furnaces to ensure efficient and high-quality production.
  • Coordinate job numbers with correct alloy, weight, and temperature per PMS to ensure accurate and timely production.
  • Transport ingots of alloy to work units using a hoist to lift and load into chamber boxes.
  • Handle molds from pre-heat furnaces to casting furnaces, ensuring proper temperature and handling.
  • Monitor gauges to assure correct settings, accurate pour speed, and appropriate crucible size for melting processes.
  • Determine accurate pump down time to prescribed vacuum levels to ensure optimal production.
  • Replace crucibles and pack crucibles using grog according to best practices to maintain equipment efficiency.
  • Record temperature at units and signal team operators to remove molds from preheat.
  • Clean and remove all metal from splash guards, crucible blocks, and furnaces to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of industrial and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed yet uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment:

Aerotek is a large manufacturing facility with 500 employees, mostly in a climate-controlled industrial environment. The job requires working in a hot area due to machines.
