Our state-of-the-art emergency and specialty facility offers comprehensive services in areas such as internal medicine, critical care, radiology, and cardiology. We are equipped with advanced technology including an in-house laboratory, digital imaging, ultrasonography, on-site CT, and endoscopic capabilities.

The compensation for this position generally ranges from $20.00 to $30.20 per hour, depending on experience and expertise. Additional shift differentials are available for evening and overnight shifts.

Work Schedule: Options include 3-12 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts, with weekend day shifts required.

Position Overview: As an Emergency Veterinary Technician/Assistant in our Emergency and Critical Care department, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing incoming patients and managing their care throughout their visit.
  • Collaborating with veterinarians in evaluating patients, conducting diagnostics, and implementing treatments and procedures.
  • Collecting and processing laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fine needle aspirates.
  • Utilizing various imaging techniques for patient evaluation.
  • Administering, monitoring, and recovering patients from sedation and anesthesia.
  • Assisting in minor surgical procedures.
  • Evaluating the needs of hospitalized patients and communicating relevant information to the supervising veterinarian.
  • Providing inpatient treatments and nursing care during your shift.
  • Calculating and administering medications and fluid therapies.

Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital environment is required, with at least 1 year in emergency and critical care preferred.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS), or Veterinary Assistant Certified (VACSP) credentials are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding and experience in anesthetic monitoring are essential.
  • Proficiency in processing laboratory specimens and familiarity with radiographic techniques are required.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, along with a commitment to building long-term relationships with colleagues and clients, are essential.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional patient care is a must.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with a commitment to outstanding client service, are expected.
