Job Description

Job Title: Organist Services

Location: Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia

Duties:

  • Provide professional music ministry services as the Accompanist/Keyboardist for Protestant worship and Roman Catholic mass.
  • Select appropriate hymns and service music for the seasonal requirements of the sacred liturgy in both Catholic and Protestant traditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit timely requests for needed resources and materials to the command chaplain.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of services at least 4 weeks in advance.

Requirements:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills sufficient to create, maintain, and send reports.
  • High School graduate with a minimum of two (2) years of music education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of hymnal background, thorough technical preparation in organ playing, and comprehensive knowledge of church music.
