Marquand, Missouri, United States Zobility Full time

Job Overview:

Zobility is seeking a dynamic and highly driven individual to become a key member of our Electrical Hardware Engineering team.

The Senior Electrical Systems Engineer will take charge of the design and development of robust military electrical systems tailored for ground, maritime, and aerial applications.

This role encompasses the specification and selection of Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) components, the design and creation of custom circuit card assemblies (CCA), the integration of existing Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), and the formulation of system architecture for Department of Defense (DOD) projects.

The ideal candidate will lead efforts in the design, analysis, simulation, testing, integration, and deployment of digital electronic modules, FPGAs, microcontrollers, and/or CCAs across various DOD applications.

The successful applicant will possess a broad understanding of all facets of circuit card design.

Experience in the following areas is particularly valuable: advanced digital and mixed-signal design, configurable logic (FPGA/firmware) design, RF design, and power electronics.

The candidate should be knowledgeable about PWB/PCB fabrication and surface mount technology (SMT) processes.

Familiarity with CCA design principles, including hierarchical design, impedance control, constraint entry, and embedded testing techniques, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Applicants must demonstrate a high level of initiative and sound judgment, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team.

The successful candidate will engage in a multi-disciplinary team environment and effectively apply engineering tools and methodologies with minimal supervision.

Adaptability to changing conditions and the ability to work harmoniously in a team setting are crucial.

The candidate will manage work within established timelines, occasionally defining those timelines.

Responsibilities include architecting electrical systems and subsystems, conducting requirement reviews, analysis, and derivation; performing trade studies for critical subsystem and component selection; and executing circuit analysis on power schemes and digital and analog interfaces.

The candidate will design electrical systems to fulfill a set of requirements, sometimes defining those requirements.

Utilization of analog electronics simulation tools such as LTSpice and power conversion simulation software like SIMPLIS or SABER to model design performance may be required.

Familiarity with component selection and schematic capture is expected.

The candidate will conduct electrical schematic capture using Altium Designer and guide Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout and technical drawing development.

Utilization of analysis and simulation tools like Mathcad and MATLAB to evaluate electrical design performance and robustness may also be necessary.

The candidate will lead the electrical design team in conducting design reviews, system integration, and system verification and validation testing. Additionally, mentoring junior engineers will be part of the role.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is required, as routine communication will occur through various platforms.

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:

This position necessitates the ability to access systems containing information restricted to US Citizens based on specific Federal Government contractual obligations.

Qualifications:

A minimum of ten years of professional experience is required, or seven years' experience with a Master's degree in a STEM-related field.

Strong planning and organizational skills, along with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and assignments, are essential.

Must be a US Citizen with the capability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Experience in design, analysis, and/or testing of military electronic systems is mandatory.

Proficiency in electrical circuit analysis with experience using LTSpice (or similar) and other circuit simulation tools is required.

Experience and proficiency in COTS and/or subsystem integration are necessary.

Experience designing and testing to environmental standards, such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461, or RTCA DO-160, is essential.

Proficiency in requirements analysis, derivation, tracing, and management is expected.

The candidate must be a self-starter, quick learner, and capable of functioning in a dynamic environment, possessing strong time management skills.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills are crucial.

Preferred Skills:

Experience and working knowledge of Altium Designer in a collaborative environment.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Experience in developing and designing electronic circuit designs, multi-assembly system/unit design, and processor designs is a plus.

Existing DoD Secret Clearance is advantageous.

Experience with embedded testing techniques, design for test, design margin analysis, and design for production is preferred.

Experience in design, analysis, or testing of various converter topologies, such as flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, and push-pull, is valuable.

Experience in specifying, designing, and integrating analog control or audio systems is beneficial.

Familiarity with military specifications or similar standards (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464) is preferred.

Experience in designing and/or integrating systems using MIL-STD-1553 and/or MIL-STD-1760 interfaces is advantageous.

Experience in addressing Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) concerns in design is a plus.

Leadership experience is beneficial.

Experience with proposal development is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program.

A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's in Engineering.

A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's in Engineering.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience with a PhD in Engineering.
