Key Responsibilities

As a Military Mental Health Specialist, you will provide non-medical support to service members and their families through counseling, consultation, and outreach.

  • Counsel individuals, couples, and families on mental health issues related to military life.
  • Observe and participate in activities with service members and their families to better understand their needs and provide guidance.
  • Offer presentations to service members, military families, and leadership at events to promote mental wellness.
  • Promote creativity and positivity through approved materials and activities.
  • Become familiar with local resources and services to support military families and individuals.
  • Communicate effectively with team leads and stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of services.
Requirements

To be successful as a Military Mental Health Specialist, you must have:

  • A Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions.
  • Licensure to practice independently in the state where you will provide services.
  • The ability to pass a background check and obtain necessary clearances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
