About the Role

The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the pharmacy department's daily operations, including dispensing prescription medication, operating the claim adjudication system, and providing patient counseling and health advocacy.
  • Leading a team of pharmacy technicians and associates, providing guidance and feedback to ensure excellent customer service and high-quality patient care.
  • Developing and implementing operational enhancement and efficiency programs to improve pharmacy sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitoring pharmacy inventory and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Store Manager.
Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for:

  • In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, serving as on-duty supervisor of the pharmacy department.
  • Providing supervision and guidance for all support staff working in the pharmacy department.
  • Implementing staff schedules for the pharmacy location.
  • Serving as primary customer care advocate ensuring that customer service standards are maintained by all pharmacy personnel.
  • Supporting company safety standards and communicating any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work.
  • Ensuring completion/maintenance of records and reports as required by regulation or the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Operations Manager, and/or corporate policy and procedures.
  • Supporting training of all personnel at the pharmacy location.
  • Working closely with the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Operations Manager to develop and implement operational enhancement and efficiency programs.
  • Monitoring adjudication of third-party claims and identifying problems in third-party systems.
  • Ensuring that all company policies, procedures, and practices are maintained and followed by all pharmacy personnel.
  • Monitoring pharmacy inventory and providing oversight of inventory purchasing and return systems.
  • Ensuring that the pharmacy maintains compliance with all state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Requirements

To be successful as a Pharmacy Manager at Food Lion, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • A current license in the state of practice as a pharmacist.
  • Demonstrated competence in effective communication skills and customer relations.
  • Unrestricted ability to fill Medicaid and Medicare prescriptions.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to communicate effectively with customers, associates, other health professionals, and the community at large.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule consistent with a stimulating retail environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and provide direction to associates.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements

The Pharmacy Manager will be required to:

  • Stand for extended periods of time during working hours.
  • Perform minor lifting (less than 25 lbs.).
