Casting Technician

At OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, we are seeking a skilled Casting Technician to join our team. As a key member of our orthopedic department, you will be responsible for applying and removing casts, splints, and other medical devices, ensuring the highest level of patient care and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply and remove casts, splints, and other medical devices as directed by physicians.
- Fabricate custom-molded rigid splints, orthoses, and adaptive equipment for children with special needs.
- Remove sutures, perform wound checks, and communicate concerns with providers.
- Utilize cast saws, suture removal kits, and other equipment as directed by physicians.
- Anticipate provider needs, including assisting with patient positioning, dressing changes, and preparing injections.
- Perform minor surgical procedures under provider supervision.
- Assist with custom brace orders by consulting with providers on appropriate bracing and performing required measurements.
- Evaluate gait, including gait training, gait analysis, and subsequent corrective recommendations.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Ortho Tech Certification preferred.
- 1-2 years related experience required; casting experience strongly preferred.
- Related certification from one of the following: Orthopedic Technologist, Medical Assistant, Cast Technician, or Certified Athletic Trainer must be obtained within 1 year.
