Job Summary:

Alabaster City Schools is seeking a qualified Transportation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe transportation to students, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and comply with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and policies regarding school buses.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with school-age children and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to remain drug and alcohol-free in the workplace and be subject to random testing.
  • Regular and punctual attendance, following correct procedures for signing in and securing substitutes.
  • Maintain student management and report incidents to supervisors.
  • Cooperate with supervisors and parents to solve discipline problems.
  • Conduct bus evacuation drills and transport authorized passengers only.
  • Keep the assigned bus clean and maintain effective communication with supervisors.
  • Check the bus before and after each operation for mechanical defects and notify authorities in case of failure.
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries immediately.
  • Complete and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of school system business and professional relationships with students and employees.

Requirements:

Must pass the Alabama School Bus Driver Physical or DOT Medical Exam Report once every two years.
