Job Summary

Career Opportunity at Crystal Clean

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Railcar Technician to join our team at Crystal Clean, a leading provider of environmental waste services. As a Railcar Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our railcar fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of railcars to ensure compliance with AAR, FRA, and industry regulations.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on railcars to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Operate forklifts and rail track mobiles as needed to move railcars around the facility.
  • Accurately complete inspection sheets and logs to track railcar maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of railcar parts and supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with terminal technicians and leads to ensure railcars meet regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and standards, including environmental and regulatory, human resources, facility, equipment, operations, and maintenance.
Additional Duties
  • Unload, load, and transfer bulk materials to and from tankers, railcars, and tanks in accordance with company rules and regulations.
  • Sample railcars, update railcar inventory, and issue work permits as needed.
  • Operate the track mobile for the movement or placement of railcars.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a carman in an AAR-certified shop or documented carman training.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (required for forklift operation and/or operation of motorized equipment).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator, steel toe boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and any other PPE required.
Reporting

Reports to the Shipping & Receiving Lead on duty.
