Center for EcoTechnology (CET) is seeking an entry-level Home Energy Specialist. This role provides an excellent opportunity to enter the energy efficiency sector, working directly with homeowners to uncover energy-saving and electrification possibilities. No prior auditing experience is necessary; we are willing to train the right candidate.
For nearly five decades, CET has been at the forefront of assisting individuals and businesses in reducing energy consumption and minimizing waste. We collaborate with municipal and state agencies, utility companies, homeowners, and business proprietors nationwide to facilitate a fair and equitable transition to a low-carbon economy. With recent advancements in state and federal climate policies, utility programs are rapidly adapting to meet carbon reduction objectives. Energy auditors and inspectors play a vital role in implementing energy-saving measures, making this an exciting time to engage in energy auditing.
Benefits: CET offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes vacation, holiday, and personal/sick leave; medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; and a retirement plan with employer matching. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with a standard work schedule of 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday.
Mileage Reimbursement: CET compensates mileage at the current IRS mileage rate.
Home Office Stipend: CET provides a monthly stipend of $85 to cover home internet and/or phone expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct energy assessments of existing residences.
- Utilize software to quantify energy savings and generate reports detailing recommendations, including electrification options.
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the audit process, including actively listening to clients to understand their needs, providing clear answers to inquiries related to energy efficiency, effectively communicating suggested energy-saving measures, and following up with clients as necessary.
- Ensure recommendations align with program requirements for incentives and rebates.
- Perform combustion safety and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Analyze energy usage data.
Qualifications:
- Preferred minimum of 1 year of experience in energy efficiency, with BPI certification. Previous roles may include Energy Specialist, Home Energy Auditor, or Energy Technician.
- Strong mathematical skills with a solid grasp of geometry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with various utility program offerings and the ability to analyze usage patterns.
- Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and modeling software is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while spending a significant amount of time in the field, in collaboration with CET's Technical and Operations teams.
- Must successfully pass a drug test and background check.
- Enthusiasm for CET's non-profit mission is essential.
This position involves conducting site visits in Massachusetts, requiring daily travel within the area.
