Job Summary:

The State of South Dakota is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Courtroom Officer. This is a temporary, non-benefited on-call position that requires strong communication skills and the ability to maintain order in a fast-paced courtroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the courtroom is properly set up for jury trials and maintain a secure and respectful environment.
  • Attend to the needs of the jury, ensuring proper procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Carry out directives issued by the Judge during court proceedings.
  • Perform other work as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • No formal education or experience is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is required for employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and courtroom procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to remember court dates and schedules.
