As our new Safety and Security Specialist, you will thrive in this role because you:

  • Are Observant and Outdoorsy: While patrolling the grounds in various weather conditions, you remain alert and responsive to maintain safety across the zoo's expansive area.
  • Communicate Effectively: You are adept at using communication tools and writing reports, ensuring timely and clear exchanges of information.
YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct patrols on foot, bicycle, or vehicle, covering parking areas, perimeters, and facilities.
  • Provide assistance and ensure the safety of zoo visitors and staff.
  • Administer First Aid and, if certified, offer advanced medical support as needed.
  • Maintain and manage the zoo's communication system effectively.
  • Document incidents and maintain security reports diligently.
  • Participate in the zoo's Emergency Response Team and engage in emergency preparedness drills.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Preferred qualifications include certifications in CPR/First Aid, OC Pepper Spray, Handcuffing, and Defensive Tactics.
  • Successful candidates must reside in the state to fulfill this role.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
